About Colchester Angling (CAPS)

Colchester Angling Preservation Society Ltd, or CAPS as we are known, have been providing angling in Essex since 1921.

CAPS aim is to provide more and varied fishing for the members through the improvement of existing fisheries and the acquisition of new waters. Providing CAPS members with a good and varied sport in pleasant surroundings at a reasonable cost. In respect of the first point we have an ongoing programme of improvements to all our waters to help facilitate this, from fish stocking to swim building and most recently, protecting some of our fisheries with the installation of Otter fencing.

The solution

Over the years we have worked closely with the board members of the society to build and add new features to help them manage membership joining and renewal processes and manage the member data in a more effective way.

Some of the website and membership features include:

Online membership payments
Membership renewals
Guest and night ticket bookings

Recently we have added to the original requirement by including a new membership database that was being handled outside of the website, even though membership joiners and renewal payments were online, the new membership database is now all part of the website back-end.

The latest addition to the website and CMS is a new email marketing system, enabling CAPS to send out member newsletters, AGM details etc., this was previously done with some emails, but mainly by post sending printed letters and member year books.
