Founded by Roy Claydon in 1953, R H Claydon has been providing a nationwide service as a specialist tyre wholesaler for 70 years. Originally a local garage and petrol station, over time the business diversified and expanded to become a major player in the wholesale tyre market.

RH Claydon, who has been a long standing client, during an upgrade of internal systems the decision was made as part of that process to also update the website, which was linked to their B2B system. This started with updating the design to a have a more modern feel and implementation of a new search facility.

Some of the requirements included:

• A new Brands page with links to each individual brand, plus a link to search for that specific brand
• Social media feed on website
• A new search feature with filters to narrow down searches to tyre type, size, brand etc.

As a first step we conducted a series of meetings to establish the design requirements from a brand perspective but also the hierarchy of the page design, making sure key messages and any new functionality, i.e. the search was easily available to new and existing clients.

The search has its own page but also a search filter on the home page so users can easily navigate and narrow down the results they see. In addition the home page would have links to specific types of tyres and when clicked would take users to the search page but with the filter for the type already elected ticked.

The data for the search is pulled from an internal system within RHC and updated daily.

The Brands pages are linked to the search so when a specific brand is selected the search filters are automatically selected t only show that brand of tyres, a link is also included on the main brands page to read more about each brand.The website has an “open and account” page with a form when completed this is sent to RH Claydon to deal with the account enquiry and where applicable approve and open the account on their B2B system.
